How I work
I collaborate with people through movement and play, valuing shared experience and joy as a foundation for learning, connection, and trust.
I’ve developed a way of working that is hands‑on, responsive, and tuned to the people I work with. Circus becomes a way for people to build capability, confidence, and belonging
- a space to explore challenge, take supported risks, and experience the joy of learning through doing.
Whether I’m developing a school program or working with community partners, my focus is on creating imaginative, curated environments where creativity, curiosity, and growth and pride can thrive.
Shaped by place
I am deeply rooted in the Northern Territory, where long‑term work across Darwin and remote regions has shaped a practice that is responsive to culture, context, and the rhythms of place. Working in these environments has taught me to move with care, to listen closely, and to let creative process unfold in ways that feel right for the setting.
This grounding guides how I design programs and support creative development, helping each project grow in ways that are steady, respectful, and connected.
The Technical Side
Alongside my facilitation work, I bring over three decades of hands‑on technical experience in circus environments. I’ve worked as a creative rigger across tents, theatres, unconventional buildings, and outdoor sites, designing and installing systems that support aerial work, performance, and experimentation. I support both architects and builders to construct spaces that can safely accommodate aerial work, and develop solutions for site‑specific projects, and supporting artists to work in spaces that are complex, unusual, or still in development.
This depth of technical knowledge allows me to work with clarity and precision, ensuring that creative process is supported by strong systems, sound structures, and practical, responsive problem‑solving.
The Bigger Picture
My work with Corrugated Iron Youth Arts spans aerial, circus, 3D movement choreography, rigging OH&S, production support, and program development. Across my career, I’ve performed in traditional and unconventional settings, created aerial dance works, facilitated long‑ and short‑term circus programs, and pioneered the Territory’s first Circus Curriculum, now delivered in NT schools.
I also perform with TECT (Top End Clown Troupe), Darwin’s only clown troupe.
Alongside this, I work with a broader, sector‑wide lens - one grounded in advocacy, research, and a commitment to creating critically responsive circus environments.
My contribution includes:
- Specialised circus rigging practice and research
- Curriculum‑aligned circus program design for NT schools
- Advisory work with the Theatre Network Australia Circus & Physical Theatre Committee
- Over 15 years of youth arts practice in remote community contexts across the NT
- embodied European contemporary-circus sector knowledge, adding an international dimension to the work I now do in the NT.
These roles reflect the breadth of experience I bring to strengthening circus education, supporting sector growth, and creating safe, technically grounded, future‑ready circus environments.
