NIKKI JEFFRIES
Practitioner‑led expertise shaping a safe, culturally grounded, and future‑ready circus sector
I work alongside communities, schools, and organisations across the Northern Territory to support creative work that is safe, inclusive, and deeply connected to place.
I bring a rare combination of hands‑on technical experience, cultural responsiveness, and sector‑wide insight. My work spans production, rigging, pedagogy, youth arts, and community‑led practice, giving me a holistic understanding of how the circus and live performance sectors operate, and how they can evolve.

Arts Practise
With more than 30 years of experience across circus, festivals, youth arts, and community practice, I support organisations, festivals, and communities to work safely, creatively, and with cultural integrity.
My practice brings together movement‑based learning, play, and shared experience, with a strong focus on care, safety, and long‑term sustainability. I work across education, performance, and community contexts, adapting my approach to place, people, and purpose.
Who I Am
A grounded, relationship‑led approach shaped by long‑term community practice.

Circus as a relational, embodied way of working
I work through movement and play, valuing shared experience as a foundation for learning, connection, and trust. Over more than three decades, I’ve developed a way of working that is hands-on, responsive, and shaped by the young people and communities I collaborate with.
Circus, for me, is a tool for building capability, confidence, and belonging. It offers young people a space to explore challenge, take supported risks, and experience the joy of learning through doing.
My practice has been shaped by long-term relationships across remote and regional Northern Territory communities, where learning is grounded in trust, cultural respect, and a deep understanding of local ways of knowing.
Whether I’m developing a school program or working alongside community partners, my focus is always on creating safe, grounded environments where creativity, curiosity, and growth can thrive.
